Anime Expo 2009

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

AX nearly didn’t happen this year, due to other obligations, but we ended up getting to go for Thursday night, Friday morning/afternoon, and then Friday night through Monday early morning.  So while it wasn’t our optimal stay at a convention of this size, we still got to go and make the most of it.  And somehow I managed to fit 5 costumes into the time we were there, so it must not have been that short a time.

I made something!

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

So a few weeks ago, while crazyloststar was away, I went a little crazy and made a futon for my Medicom dolls. :/

Notice the futon has a cover!  And the pillowcases have actual pillows inside!  And don’t Roy and Al look so comfterbuls.

Dress-up!

dress-up

No, not for me. For the dolls! I had ordered some alternate clothing on eBay just to give them something else to wear, and it finally got here. I was beginning to worry, but it was coming from Hong Kong.

I have a journal!?

i-have-a-journal

Well, finally scrapped together something worthy of an entry, and wouldn’t you know, it’s fandom related. Should be a story posted soon as well. I finally heard back from the final university, and I didn’t get into any of them. I’m not emotional about it anymore, but the biggest obstacle I’m going to have now is not feeling upset whenever I hear about people in grad school. Jealousy is one of my bigger faults. I may end up trying again at some lesser universities, but for now the plan is to try and find a job that uses my undergrad degree. If I can do that, I’d be content. And I probably need to be making about twice what I’m making now (which isn’t impossible) so that I can actually start paying off my debt while still getting on with my life. “Getting on with my life” means moving to a bigger city, closer to at least one group of friends, or making enough money to drive, which would at least let me travel to my friends. Really, just a better paying job in general would solve a lot of the issues that are dragging me down emotionally. Grad school would have been one awesome method of adding fulfillment to my life, but there are others. Making $8.50 an hour, however (although this is my favorite job so far), is not going to get me any of the things I need and want.

It’s a bit embarrassing to juxtapose the above paragraph with this one, but in my defense, I ordered these action figures in November. I didn’t really have the money for it then, either, but I can’t be blamed for something I did almost 6 months ago. Also this purchase made me productive again, so it’s not all terrible.

Onward! About two or three weeks ago I finally received Medicom’s Roy and movie!Al in the mail. I promptly took pictures, then found a foam piece that was just right for a couch, then made a cover and pillows for the couch. I also fished around in the basement of my parents’ for our old Barbie kitchen set, which is really a Sindy kitchen set. Must have been Barbie’s rival in the 70s, but I still think this stuff is cool. They don’t make Barbie furniture like this anymore. Dude, the sink has a drain in it, and a plug, and a little basin under the sink to catch the water you could put in it. Check out the pictures! I’m hoping to rummage some more this weekend for any other pieces I can find.

Sky-con 2007 Pictures

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

SO in December, edchii, crazyloststar and I went down to Georgia to visit sky_dark for her birthday. \o/ These are some pictures of some of the festivities, which mainly include cosplay and dress-up. General silliness, all much fun.  Too many to caption. ;_; (more…)

Yaoi-con merch

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

So, just to be sure I chronicle this, because I’ll never remember otherwise, here’s what I bought while I was at y-con this year.

The Doujin:

  • The top-left one looked promising, but it turns out it was by a circle I’m not particularly fond of but hadn’t known the name of. RoyxHavoc.
  • The middle-top was a gift from cryogenia from the circle Cherub! <3 It’s a HughesxRoyxHavoc where they seem to be trying to outperform each other.
  • The top-right one has such a pretty cover. The art inside is nice too, but it didn’t seem to stand out. RoyxHavoc
  • The bottom-right also has strong art, another RoyxHavoc. I liked the cover, which seems to state that Havoc is a full head above Roy.
  • The middle-bottom is THE MOST ADORABLE DOUJIN YOU WILL EVER BEHOLD. It features Hughes and tiny kitty!Roy out for a visit in the country. :kitty:
  • The bottom-right is a HughesxEd from the excellent Mulberry. First four pages are in color. Lovely art. <3

Other:

  • CRAZYLOSTSTAR BOUGHT ME A COHEED AND CAMBRIA DVD AND PATCH from a concert she went to. 8D
  • I finally found Ponderosa’s table to snag that little drunken kiss between Hughes and Roy.
  • crazyloststar bought me the EdxAl print <3
  • Found adorable artwork in a corner of one of the art rooms and picked up the keychains of Roy and Havoc. She had an amazing FMA calendar, but it was a bit pricey.
  • I also got a Kyo (Fruba) t-shirt, but I forgot to put it in the picture! D:

I should maybe unpack my stuff?

Yaoi-con 2007

yaoi-con-2007

This y-con I got to hang with crazyloststar, cryogenia, edchii, wiccat, and mikke!

Hard to say what went on this y-con–I have such a hard time keeping up with a timeline XD But I arrived around 5pm at LAX–that’s L-A-X, not lax–and miracle of miracles, crazyloststar found me at the airport after I got my luggage! Then we hung out at her parents’ for a bit, got food, and took off around 10pm for the drive up to San Mateo with her awesome sister, Itch.

We made it into San Mateo around 4:30 despite our exit being completely closed, and because crazyloststar had requested early check-in, we were able to get into the room. The prospect of having a bed at that point almost obscured the fact that they got some kind of half-suite room of awesome. But I would be headed to a full suite the next night, so I had it good all around.

Roy and Hughes at the Academy

I finally got Roy and Hughes into college by de-aging them. At first they refused to have anything to do with each other, but I persisted. Their chemistry is a lot lower than I’d prefer, but it hardly matters now. Now if only those dorm rooms fit double beds a little easier. :/
