Meme: Your Writing Environment
Some of us need ritual when we write. Others need stimulation. Some prefer the swiftness of a word processor while others feel more productive with the physicality of pen or pencil on paper. I fall into the former of both comparisons, but I want to know about you guys! So I guess I’m kinda making up a little meme. Here it is.
Open up your favorite word processor, if that’s what you use. If it isn’t already arranged the way it is when you sit down to write your fic, make it that way. Type something in it so I can see your font and colors, whatever they are, and take a screencap of the application window or the whole desktop space if you’ve got other stuff open that you need: music, a buddy list, whatever comprises your preferred writing environment. If you feel more productive with pen/pencil and paper (and also have a digital camera or scanner), post a pic of that too! Use your favorite notebook or loose paper, and be sure to write a little something/nothing–I want to see your handwriting in whatever script style you like to compose in. Post your pics in the comments or link me to your post if you do this meme too. :D
To start us off, here’s my writing environment on my laptop. The program is an old-school plain-text editor called NoteTab. On the right you can see all my unfinished business, prefixed with a “0_”.
